What the Hell
is Sunburn?

Florida, 1977. A dirt-poor country boy from Florida’s panhandle orchestrates the largest marijuana smuggling operation in U.S. Department of Justice history. Using shrimp boats this crew smuggled over 1.5 million pounds of Colombian marijuana into the Sunshine State and pocketed $320 million in the process.

To clean the cash these outlaws obtained the U.S. distribution rights to a well-known French sun care company called “Sun System”. This crew lived life full throttle and did it publicly. “Sun Systems” branded race cars, cigarette boats, yacht parties and billboards across Florida. They worked hard, but played equally as hard.

This brazen lifestyle caught law enforcement’s attention, so they created a satellite office in Panama City Beach specifically to go after this organization of smugglers. The feds dubbed the investigation “OPERATION SUNBURN”.

In the late 70’s that group of Florida outlaws was willing to blaze their own trail, work outside of established norms, and live life wide open. The band leader of that bunch of Southern boys was named Bill Cobb, the father of our CEO Brady Cobb. Meaning cannabis is not only our business here, it’s literally in our blood.

When building Sunburn we made damned sure to honor the legacy that we are lucky enough to carry on, and to cultivate and keep that same spirit within every member of our crew today. It became a mandate. A mantra, to honor the outlaws that came before us. A rebelliousness that runs through our veins like the waterways that run throughout our entire state. In writing our own story we’re bridging the gap of the Operation Sunburn crew from the 1970’s and the Sunburn Cannabis crew we’ve cultuvated in the 2020’s.

Our goal with Sunburn was to create a brand that celebrates the rebelliousness and free spirit of America’s past. An updated, but timeless brand inspired by the trailblazing 1970’s era of marijuana smuggling that largely shaped and built the state of Florida.

This ain’t New York City, and it sure as hell ain’t California.

This is Florida cannabis, with a Florida attitude.

This is SUNBURN…
